Important

In the UK, an Islamic marriage (also referred to as a nikah, katb kitab or aqid) officiated in the UK is not recognised as a legally valid marriage. This has serious legal implications. For a marriage recognised by law, couples must enter into a civil marriage as well. The law in other countries may differ.

Can the scholar attend at our home for an in-person Nikah?

Absolutely! Most of our scholars are based in London and would be happy to attend at a location of your choice. Our remote option is great for couples outside the UK or who simply prefer a simpler, more affordable Nikah.

I'm Shia muslim - do I need my father's consent to get married?

According to Shia fiqh, there are several exceptions to the guardian's consent requirement. Give us a call or drop us a message on +44 7448 592173 to share your circumstances. Any information shared is strictly confidential.

How does a Shia-Sunni Nikah work at MRS Consultants?

During your Nikah planning call, your dedicated Advisor will run you through the Sharia requirements for a valid Nikah according to both schools of fiqh. The scholar officiating your Nikah will ensure all requirements are met and both partners and families feel included.

We are both Shia. Do we need two male witnesses?

According to Shia fiqh, witnesses are recommended but not required for a valid Nikah.
